1. Overview

SnackShame ("we," "our," or "us") is a calorie-tracking app with AI-powered comedian roasts. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We do not sell your personal data.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account & Profile

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the authentication provider. We store your profile preferences (age, gender, preferred comedian, calorie goal, weight goal) to personalize your experience.

2.2 Food & Health Logs

We store the meals you log, including food names, calorie and macro/micronutrient estimates, timestamps, and meal categories. This data lives on your device (via SwiftData) and in Firebase Firestore under your authenticated account.

2.3 AI Interactions

When you request a roast or a food decision, your meal summary is sent to an AI language model to generate a response. We do not send your name or email to the AI provider. Prompts are processed and discarded — we do not use your food data to train AI models.

2.4 Usage & Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (e.g., screens visited, feature usage frequency). This data does not identify you individually. You can opt out of analytics in Settings.

2.5 Purchases

In-app purchases are handled by Apple via StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment information. We receive a confirmation of purchase entitlement only.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and personalize the calorie tracking and roast features.
  • To generate AI comedian responses based on your logged meals.
  • To compute nutrition scores (skin, hair, gains meters).
  • To restore your data when you reinstall or change devices.
  • To improve the app via aggregated, anonymized analytics.
  • To respond to your support requests.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Google Sign-In — optional authentication provider. Google Privacy Policy
  • Apple Sign-In — optional authentication provider. Apple Privacy Policy
  • AI Language Model Provider — processes anonymized meal summaries to generate roasts. No personal identifiers are shared.

5. Data Retention

Your food logs and profile data are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time from Settings → Delete My Data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

SnackShame is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Data portability (receive your data in a portable format).

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firebase Security Rules, and authenticated access to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
