Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log a meal?
Tap 'Log a meal' on the Home tab. You can upload a photo, receipt, food diary screenshot, or describe your meal by text. Chip will extract the calories and categorize it automatically.
Why is my meal showing as an 'L' (bad) when it was healthy?
Chip classifies meals based on ingredients and calorie density. If a meal was misclassified, swipe right on it in History to mark it as 'All good ✅' — Chip will remember your preference for that restaurant or food in the future.
How do I get a roast?
Tap 'Shame My Eating' on the Home tab. Pick your comedian, choose a bit style, and select the time period. Chip needs at least one logged meal to roast you.
What does 'Should I Eat This?' do?
It lets you describe a food you're considering and get an AI verdict — buy it, skip it, or maybe — plus a full comedy set about why. Great for impulse decisions.
My AI features stopped working. What's wrong?
AI features require an internet connection and use your daily free quota. Free users get a limited number of AI actions per day. Upgrade to SnackShame Pro for unlimited access. If you're a Pro subscriber and features aren't working, try force-quitting and reopening the app.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions → SnackShame → Cancel Subscription. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't manage subscriptions directly — they're handled by Apple.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find your SnackShame purchase, and request a refund. Apple typically processes refund requests within a few days.
Is my data stored in the cloud?
No. All your meal data, weight, goals, and profile are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. AI features send your meal description to Google's Gemini API to generate responses — no personal identifiers are included.
How do I delete my data?
Go to the Settings tab inside the app and tap 'Delete all data'. This permanently removes your profile, all logged meals, and your history from the device. Since data is stored locally, uninstalling the app also removes everything.
The app crashed or something looks broken.
Force-quit the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, email us at support@snackshame.app with a description of what happened and your device model. We typically respond within 24 hours.
